This is Step 1

1.Have two Coaches stand side-by-side at the finish line facing away from the Players.
2. Have the Players line up along the starting line shoulder to shoulder and say “What time is it?”
3. The Coach on the right should yell a time like “5 o’clock.”
4. When the Players hear this, they should take 5 steps forward and stop.
5. The Players should continue saying, “What time is it?” and the Coach on the right should continue to answer with a new time each round.
6. Important: About every third time, the Coach on the left side should shout, “It is time to go to jail!” That Coach then turns around and chases the Players back to the                  starting line. If that Coach tags a Player, that Player has to sit out for one round.
7. Important: The only time the Players will cross the finish line is when the Coach on the right calls out “It is time to come home!” This means all the Players can safely run to      the finish line.

The descendants of Jacob became a huge nation and they were known as “the Israelites.” They were God’s chosen people to bless the world.

Moses: Today, let us learn about the birth of Moses.  Moses was born a long time ago in Egypt. He was a descendant of Jacob. He was not an Egyptian. He was an Israelite. At that time the Pharaoh of Egypt gave an order that every new born baby boy was to be thrown into the River Nile and killed. Can you imagine the sadness the parents felt when a baby boy was born? This is a story about how God can protect His own people even during such evil times.

During this time, a God-fearing Hebrew family, Amram and Jochebed had their third child, a baby boy, along with their two children Aaron and Miriam.  To save their son, Jochebed hid the baby for three months. When the boy grew bigger and they were unable to hide him any longer, the mother finally put the baby in a reed basket, and left him on the edge of the Nile River. Hiding behind some reeds, his sister Miriam carefully watched the basket.

The Pharaoh’s daughter came with her maids to the Nile River for a bath. She saw the reed basket and sent one of her maids to bring it to her. When they opened it, they found a cute baby boy inside! The princess felt kind towards him and she wanted to adopt him. She named him Moses – meaning ‘drawn out of water.’ The little boy Moses had a miraculous escape from death! Moses’ sister Miriam rushed to the Egyptian princess, as if by accident and offered to bring a Hebrew woman to look after the baby. The
Princess liked the idea.  Miriam cleverly brought Jochebed, to nurse the baby for the Egyptian princess!  The mother and son would be together again! Moses grew up as an Egyptian Prince in the palace where his mother taught him to love the true God and made him aware of the sadness of Hebrew people. Moses became a learned man in the palace but his heart was for his people who were in slavery.

One day, Moses saw an Egyptian, brutally beating a Hebrew slave to death. Shocked, he fought and killed the Egyptian. When King Pharaoh came to know, he was very angry. Moses fled Egypt and escaped to the land of Midian, a neighbouring place, where he spent 40 years as a shepherd.

God had a great plan for Moses. Nothing that happened in his life was by accident. Everything was planned by God! Later Moses became the greatest leader of Israelites who led them out of Egyptian slavery.

From today’s lesson let us remember all the time that God can do miracles in our lives because He has a plan for each one of us. God has a purpose for each one of us.
