1 GAME: Storm the Castle Switch

Game / Bible / Life Connection:

  1. Show Players the boundaries that the game will be played in. There is an outer square where the four teams will line up on and an inner square where the “Castle” is. Inside the castle are small objects for the Players to retrieve. Important: If the group is large divide into two playing fields.
  2. Choose two Players to be “Castle” guards that run in the space between the two squares. If a guard tags a Player that Player is out and must sit down on his/her side for the remainder of the game.
  3. Divide the Players into four teams placing each team on each of the four sides of the outer square.
  4. Once Players have been divided into teams assign each Player a number. Each team should have a one, a two, a three, and so on.
  5. Point out the objects in the middle of the inner square. Explain that when the Game Zone Leader shouts “Number one’s (or one’s and three’s) Storm the
  6. Castle” the Players with that number can run to get as many objects as possible or wait until the guards are distracted to do so. In this version the P7. layers can only get one object at a time but have a choice to take back to their courtyard line or to another team’s courtyard line. The team with the most objects is the winning team.
  7. Play for 5 minutes. Count down from 10 to stop the game. See which team has the most objects.
  8. Encourage the Players to be bolder in the next round. Explain that the Players no longer need to sit out the rest of the round if they are tagged but only 10 seconds that they count aloud themselves. Say that if there are no objects taken by a team, that team will have to run a penalty lap around the Game Zone area.
  9. Play several more rounds.

Game / Bible / Life Connection:

Memory Verse:   And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all. And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”  Mark 9:35-37

Leader, ask God to connect to the children’s minds, the children’s hearts, and in the prayer to connect to the children’s soul.
