Memorize the Story: “My Team Won!”
(illustrates “GameLife 1-2-3”)
[Please note. This entire story follows the training format: Experience, Discovery, and Connection. The Game Experience leads into the Bible Discovery and that leads to the Life Connection.]
Game Experience:
-
Once, a world cup football (soccer) match was to be decided by a single player’s kick in a shoot out. The player sent the ball solid into the back of the net! The entire new championship team began to jump and shout and celebrate! (To better illustrate this story, the main point can be experienced by those you are training, not soccer, but “Rock, Paper, Scissors” everyone plays with losing player standing behind the player that won, play several rounds until there are only two teams left. Have the representatives play to decide the championship team).
-
When one of the players on the winning team was asked “Why are YOU so excited?” We won!!!” “Actually, the star player won with the winning shot, so why are YOU so excited? YOU did not kick the winning shot (or win the “Rock, Paper, Scissors” game).
-
My team is victorious therefore I am victorious!
Bible Discovery:
-
-
1 Samuel 17.
-
David is victorious over Goliath therefore all Israel is victorious!
-
Life Connection:
-
- Winning Team is Victorious I am Victorious
- David is Victorious Israel is Victorious
- Jesus is Victorious therefore I am Victorious!
The Bible says it best:
For our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin,
so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (emphasis added)
“Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin,
but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts,
the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand,
and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth,
that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel,
47 and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear.
For the battle is the Lord’s,
and he will give you into our hand.”
1 Samuel 17:45-47 (emphasis added)

This strategy will help fulfill the Great Commission ““All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18b-20.
