“Preparing the soil” through fasting and prayer is similar to removing rocks and weeds from a field in order to plant a harvest.

Nobody would plant a seed on concrete. In the same way, one should never seek to minister (plant seeds) on unprepared soil.

If there is no fruit, the “farmer” should go back and prepare the soil through fasting and prayer.

Planting seeds, or sharing the Gospel, is something many Christians have never undertaken.

There are also many Christian leaders who have never shared the Gospel in a one-on-one setting.

Many may have tried to plant the seeds. Yet, without training and preparing the soil, sharing the Gospel can seem intimidating.

Nurturing growth takes time. In the same way a mango tree can take more than five years to bear fruit, it may take several years to see fruit from the life of a disciple.
